Paternity test reunites kidnapped daughter with parents after 23 years

23 years ago Carlina White was kidnapped, as she lay ill with a 104 degree fever in hospital just after birth.

She was raised as Njedra Nance, but as she grew up she began to suspect she wasn't biologically related to the family who raised her, reports The Daily Mail.

When she couldn't find a birth certificate, Miss White was so convinced she wasn't related to the people she'd spent her life with that she looked on the National Centre of Missing and Exploited Children website.

It was then that she discovered the photo of a baby called 'Carlina Renae White', contacted the organisation and when they responded, she sent a photo of her as a baby taken by the family she grew up with.

When Joy White saw the photo of who was potentially her long lost child, she was recognised the face instantly. "As soon as I saw those pictures I said, 'That's my daughter,' I saw myself in her," said Ms White.

Her belief was backed up by a DNA test that proved the two were related, with a paternity test proving Ms White's partner Carl Tyson was the father.

The mother said that when her daughter was ill in hospital in 1987, a woman dressed as a nurse was comforting her. In reality, that woman used the disguise as a ruse and disappeared with the infant.
