Irish Red and White Setter
Irish Red and White Setters are intelligent, loyal, trainable loveable dogs. With firm and gentle handling any rebellious tendencies can be reduced. Out of all the gun dogs they can take the longest to train. They are commonly kept either for show, obedience, agility, working or just as a loyal and loving family dog.
Irish Red and White Setter History:
The Irish Red and White Setter is a close relative to the Irish Setter breed. Initially Irish Setter dogs were bred and developed for their field talents, rather than coat colour, and it was not until the 1800’s that the red colouring became popular in the show ring.
The breed remains today more of a field dog than a house dog. However, with loving but firm training they will remain an obedient and loyal companion.
