Legal Identical Twin DNA Test

A legal identical twin DNA test is required when establishing if two individuals are identical or not for legal purposes.

Your results can be used in a court of law for complex family reconstruction situations. This test requires a DNA sample to be taken by a professional doctor, nurse, or accredited sampler and cannot be self administrated. Our labs conduct legal testing that is ISO/IEC:17025 accredited and ISO:9001:2008 certified for use in the UK court system.

Identical or Fraternal?

The Legal Twin Zygosity test looks at specific areas of the DNA  to determine the exact genetic link between twins.

Two siblings can either be 'identical' or 'fraternal'. There are a number of legal circumstances where a court approved report is needed - this is provided by DNA Worldwide.

Identical Twins
Identical twins have very similar physical attributes. Identical twin births occur when one sperm cell fertilises an egg which later divides into two identical cells.

Fraternal Twins
Fraternal twins also have similar physical attributes. When two eggs are independently fertilised by two different sperm cells creating a fraternal twin.
